This is a great tripod for all flip video camcorders. I have the FlipMino and it works great as a stationery tripod or to loop it around objects. I have read reviews that say it doesn't hold heavier cameras in place. I can see where one would not want to use much weight with it, so I think I agree with that. it appears to me that it would slip out of place if you used much weight while looping it around things. That is because the gripping loops are not rubber like the bottom, they are plastic. Also, I agree with another person's review I read who says once you bend these balls, they take quite a bit to get them back straight again. In fact, I gave up. But, you can move the other legs and the top so that it evens the camera out, so not a huge issue.

I highly recommend this for anyone with a Flip Video Camera. It offers lots of flexability, whereas other tripods with solid legs do not. I would think it would work well for lightweight cameras too and it has a quick release shoe for those which is convenient. It has a lot of height to it, from the table to the top of my Flip Mino os 10.5 inches. It has to be this tall so you can wrap it around objects if you want. If you are just looking for a stationery tripod, I would say go with a Mini Metal Flexible Tripod with extension legs for Digital Camera Camcorder Webcam. You can google them. They have aluminum legs and the top swivels. I will probably use my Joby Gorillapod for standard statinery recording, but I thought if I ever wanted to take it outside and wrap it around a tree branch or something, at least I would have the option.
